After passing the assessment, you’ll receive a Statement of Attainment and your RSA certificate for SITHFAB021, approved by Access Canberra. This is the certificate to start working.

Enrolments are open to students aged 16 and over. You need to be 18 to serve, sell or supply alcohol in the ACT.

Provide the identification requested at enrolment. Your legal name and details should match your USI records. Confirm accepted documents before starting.

Have your Unique Student Identifier ready and make sure your enrolment details match your ID. A valid USI is needed for nationally recognised certification unless an exemption applies. Create or find your USI.

Use a suitable internet-connected device and current browser. Check camera, microphone and practical assessment requirements before starting; a laptop or desktop is recommended.

Complete your RSA through an Access Canberra-approved course to make sure it’s recognised in the ACT. A national Statement of Attainment on its own doesn’t guarantee local approval, check your provider is on Access Canberra’s approved list before you enrol.

You’ll need to read, write and speak English at an intermediate level to follow the course and complete the assessments.

RSA means Responsible Service of Alcohol. It’s the ACT training that teaches how to serve alcohol safely and step in when a situation could put customers or staff at risk.

The nationally recognised unit is SITHFAB021, Provide responsible service of alcohol. What’s also required depends on your state and the specific duties of your role.

People who supply liquor and crowd controllers working at ACT licensed premises need accepted RSA training. Check the requirements for your duties with your employer.

Your employer should confirm the requirements for your duties. Additional management, security or licensed roles can have separate conditions.

Learn about standard drinks, alcohol-related harm, signs of intoxication, age checks and situations where service must be refused. Practise communicating clearly and responding professionally to difficult interactions.

Assessment checks your knowledge and ability to apply the required skills. Completing the learning material alone is not enough for certification.
