What is RSG in Western Australia?
RSG means Responsible Service of Gambling. It focuses on reducing gambling-related harm and applying responsible service procedures.

Who needs RSG in WA?
This course develops responsible gambling skills for relevant gambling service roles. WA duties and licensing arrangements depend on the venue and job; ask your employer whether this qualification is required.
Your employer should confirm the requirements for your duties. Additional management, security or licensed roles can have separate conditions.
What will you learn?

Check refresher, induction and licensing requirements with your WA employer and regulator. Do not assume another state’s requirements for hotels and clubs apply in WA.

Can I complete the course at my own pace?
Yes, our WA RSG training runs self-paced online, approved by the Department of Local Government, Sport and Cultural Industries (DLGSC). There’s no set login time or live trainer, just work through the material and finish your assessment whenever suits you.

What identification and USI do I need?
You just one form of photo identification for the RSG WA training. Your driver’s licence, passport or proof of age card work. Check it matches your enrolment details. Your USI is required as well. Create or find your USI.
What equipment do I need?
You don’t need anything beyond a laptop or desktop and a reliable internet connection. There’s no hands-on component to RSG, so you don’t need any specific equipment.
What certificate will I receive?
Passing your assessment gets you a Statement of Attainment for SITHGAM022. WA doesn’t run a card system for RSG, so this document is what you’ll show your employer to start working.
Will my RSG WA expire?
Once you have your WA RSG, it doesn’t expire. There’s no mandatory renewal or refresher required. Still, if you’ve been out of the gaming industry for a while, it’s worth brushing up before heading back.
Can I use this RSG WA in other states?
Within the QLD, WA and NT group, yes, these three recognise each other’s RSG with nothing extra to complete. Outside that group it gets more complicated.
NSW doesn’t use RSG at all, it runs a completely separate qualification called RCG, so your WA RSG won’t count there, you’d need to do the NSW course from scratch. Victoria, South Australia, Tasmania and the ACT each run their own version of RSG training too, with their own approved providers and renewal rules, Victoria even adds an extra module through its own regulator.
