Start with the work you plan to do. White Card training is for construction site safety, RSA covers responsible alcohol service, RSG focuses on responsible gambling services, and food safety training supports safe food handling at work.

Then choose your state and read the course details. Check the unit of competency, delivery method, eligibility, total fee and certificate you will receive. A nationally recognised training outcome and a state licence or competency card are different things, so check both before booking. Online doesn’t always mean study whenever you like. A live virtual classroom has a set start time and a trainer running the session, and you need to show up on time. Self-paced lets you work through the material in your own time, though you may still need to book in an assessment or trainer contact.

Check the delivery details before you enrol, session time, time zone, how many hours it takes, the deadline, and any practical activities. Booking the course doesn’t get you certified, you still need to show up and finish the assessment.

A White Card relates to general construction induction training. The course introduces construction hazards, safe work practices, emergency procedures and responsibilities on a building site. It is different from the site-specific induction an employer may provide.

Online White Card eligibility and delivery requirements depend on the state and course. RSA training covers responsible alcohol service, while RSG training covers responsibilities in gambling environments. The right choice depends on your duties: a role involving both alcohol service and gaming may call for more than one course.

Food safety training helps you understand personal hygiene, contamination, cleaning, storage and safe food handling. The course you need depends on your responsibilities and the type of food business where you work.

General food handling and food safety supervision are different responsibilities. Compare the units, assessment activities and certificate against your role and your state’s requirements. You get certified once you pass the training and assessment, questions, discussion, practical demonstrations, or a mix, your trainer will explain what is needed.

Check what document your course gives you. A Statement of Attainment covers the national units you’ve completed, a state card or licence may need a separate process.
